SIO protest
Opposing the celebrations of Valentine’s Day, activists of the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) on Wednesday took out a silent rally in the city and staged a demonstration in front of the Sub-Collector’s office.
Wearing black-coloured dresses and holding placards with slogans against the ‘imported culture’, the activists launched the rally at Chennupati petrol bunk and proceeded through Mahatma Gandhi Road. Representatives of the organisation submitted a memorandum to Vijayawada Sub-Collector Gaurav Uppal urging him to stop the celebrations in the city.
True love does not need a particular day in a year to express love, also it is not limited to a one sided angle of man-woman love.We should cherish and celebrate all kinds of love that the human heart is capable to feel. Our intention is to peacefully oppose Valentine's Day and not to do moral policing but to make the masses (Students) realize the ill effects of aping this culture from the west..
