Lets be a Valentine to the society: SIO
Why Muslims not Celebrate Valentine's Day?
Students Islamic Organisation (Mumbai Division) celebrated Valentine’s Day with a difference in college campuses and other places in Mumbai on February 14. In a statement, it said, “Valentine’s Day promotes unethical male-female relations. The celebration of Valentine’s Day is nothing but giving open licence to the youth to indulge in immoral acts. SIO opposes such behaviour strongly and believe that such activities erode moral and family values.
“SIO (Mumbai) aims to convey the message of universal brotherhood on this Valentine’s Day. SIO (Mumbai) wants every Indian to be a Valentine to the 30% Indians who live below poverty line, to the 2 million Children who die of hunger every year, to our farmers who are reeling under debt and to women who are burnt for dowry. Rather than making an individual happy, let us make everyone happy.”
True love does not need a particular day in a year to express love, also it is not limited to a one sided angle of man-woman love.We should cherish and celebrate all kinds of love that the human heart is capable to feel. Our intention is to peacefully oppose Valentine's Day and not to do moral policing but to make the masses (Students) realize the ill effects of aping this culture from the west..
